We want to inform you about an upcoming change that will affect access to Microsoft 365, specifically the Outlook email service, outside of the United States of America (美国). We are implementing stricter access controls to enhance data security and protect our organization’s sensitive information.

Starting from September 18, 2023, access to Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook, will be restricted outside of the USA. This decision is based on a thorough evaluation of our security measures and the need to align with data privacy regulations.

Here are the key changes:

  • 访问限制: Employees will no longer have direct access to Microsoft 365 (including Outlook) while traveling or residing outside the USA.
  • Access Request Process: If you need access to your work email while outside of the US, you will have to submit a formal access request. This process ensures access is granted on a case-by-case basis, and we can monitor and manage security risks more effectively.
  • Multifactor Authentication (MFA): To further strengthen the security of remote access, all approved access requests will require Microsoft multifactor authentication. This added layer of protection will significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access to our systems and safeguard 敏感数据.

行动要求:

If you anticipate the need to access your work email outside the USA, please follow 这些步骤:

  1. Submit an Access Request: Before your intended travel or relocation, submit an access request to the ITS department by filling out the Travel Abroad Request found in the Help Desk service catalog.
  2. 微软MFA设置: Once your access request is approved, you will receive instructions on setting up multifactor authentication for secure access. Please ensure you complete this setup before your departure.

We understand that these changes may cause some inconvenience, but they are necessary to protect our organization's 敏感数据 and greatly reduce the number of cyberattacks responsible for the increasing number of phishing and spam emails targeting staff 和学生.

Our primary goal is to maintain a secure and productive work environment for everyone at Pasadena City College.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this access restriction or the access request process, please contact the IT department at helpdesk@daves-studio.com.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we continue to make strides in protecting your digital identity and data security. Thank you for your attention to 这件事.
